About the TEAS exam

Who takes the TEAS?

People applying to nursing and other health science programs. Many schools use the ATI TEAS to see whether applicants are ready for college-level coursework. Check with each program you apply to, since requirements differ.

How is the ATI TEAS structured?

The current version, ATI TEAS 7, has 170 questions and 209 minutes of testing time. Reading has 45 questions in 55 minutes, Math 38 in 57 minutes, Science 50 in 60 minutes, and English and Language Usage 37 in 37 minutes. Twenty of the 170 questions are unscored pretest items, so 150 count toward your score. An on-screen calculator is provided for the math section.

What score do I need?

There is no single passing score. ATI reports an Adjusted Individual Total Score and an academic preparedness level, and each school sets its own minimum. Our practice exams use 70% correct (53 of 75) as a benchmark, but check the requirement for each program you apply to.

What does the Science section cover?

Science has the most questions on the test. Human anatomy and physiology is its largest part, covering body systems such as the heart, lungs, nervous system, digestion and kidneys. The rest covers biology, chemistry and scientific reasoning.

How do I take the TEAS?

You can test in person at a school or a PSI testing center, or online with a remote proctor, depending on what your program accepts. You register through ATI. Check with ATI and your school for current fees, retake rules and which options they accept.

Is this the official exam?

No. This is practice material to help you prepare, and our questions are not real TEAS questions. The TEAS is made by ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute). This site is not affiliated with ATI.
